Pamela Warshay, founder/ principle instructor of Sage Fitness®

 

Megan Brunsvold began her Pilates training at the University of Utah, where she earned a B.F.A. in Modern Dance. While completing her dance degree, she had the fortunate experience of studying anatomy and kinesiology under the esteemed Dr. Sally Fitt. Upon moving to New York and beginning her dance career, Megan continued her study of movement, exploring the modalities of Pilates, Yoga, Gyrotonic, as well as many various dance forms. She completed her Pilates certification under Elyse McNergney and the Xercize Corp, a Pilates System that is heavily influenced by the Alexander Technique. Before joining Sage Fitness, Megan was a Senior Trainer at Sal Anthony’s Movement Salon where she had been teaching since 2000. Megan has thoroughly enjoyed continuing her movement education under Irene Dowd, Kelly Kane, Debbie Goodman, and Bob Leikens.

Megan is a certified Holistic Health Practitioner, having graduated from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition in 2003, and is also a practitioner of Thai Yoga Massage (level one). She believes firmly in the Holistic approach to vibrant health and wellness, and incorporates these philosophies into her teaching.

 

Cori Doetzer has been a Gyrotonic instructor since 1997 and a Gyrotonic Master Trainer since 2000. Additionally, she is Gyrokinesis certified and is currently enrolled in the Gyrokinesis Master Trainer Program. Cori’s practice is composed of both instructing clients as well as current and future Gyrotonic instructors. She has studied with such notables as Irene Dowd, Martha Yoshida, Leslie Kaminoff and Juliu Horvath among others.

Additionally, she holds certificates in both Pilates and Yoga and is a NY State Licensed Massage Therapist. Cori graduated from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts with a BFA in Dance.

Allyson Gracie is a certified IM=X® (Integrated Movement = Exercise) Pilates instructor. Besides training private clients at Sage Fitness®, she teaches mat classes in at various New York City gyms and wellness centers. She specializes in therapeutic fitness trauma related injuries, as well as pre-and post-natal clients. Allyson is featured in the im=x Beginner Pilates mat class video.

Allyson has over 16 years experience with meditation and metaphysics, and is a Reiki Master. Her own practice of Pilates and yoga began 7 years ago and has evolved to include many other modalities of movement and exercise. Her personal experience has led her to make strong connections between the mind, body and emotional world, which is becoming a much more accepted philosophy in western culture.

Allyson has an advanced certification from The Xercize Corp. to teach IM=X® Pilates. She is currently working on her Post-Rehabilitation Certification, specializing in Therapeutic Exercise. She is certified by the American Council of Exercise (ACE) as a personal trainer, in addition to having a current CPR certification from the American Red Cross. She has a degree in fine art and fashion design, and continues to create photography and illustration and loves to shop and image-consult.

Allyson’s corporate background includes 20 years experience with firms ranging from Production Management in small design houses to Executive Assistant positions for high profile analysts in brokerage firms. “Stress” just seems to be unavoidable for many of us, so, finding effective ways to manage stress has been an interesting journey for Allyson, who shares her experience with others as a Trainer and Teacher.

 

Hayley Graham is a certified Gyrotonic and Gyrokinesis instructor since 1998. Hayley is also a certified Gyrotonic Pre-Trainer for prospective teachers. She has studied with Master Trainers Cori Doetzer, Matt Aversa and Julio Horvath, the creator of Gyrotonic.

She brings seventeen years of intensive ballet and modern dance training and performance, as well as her on going studies in Tai Chi Chuan, Hatha yoga, Anatomy and Kinesiology (with Irene Dowd) and the Yamuna® Body Rolling Technique -to her teaching methods.

By exploring spherical awareness, joint health, muscle tension, the ill affects of stress and the flow of energy throughout the body, she assists each student in gaining access to their natural physical possibilities and taps into dormant reserves of grace and prowess.

Her unwavering goal is to illuminate the mind body connection. Familiar with the principles of Homeopathy, Flower Essences, 12-Step programs and Psychotherapy, Hayley helps clients to draw connections to these modalities and further their movement goals. A client’s unfamiliarity with the above is never a hindrance!

Clients range from healthy people looking to achieve their fitness goals, expectant moms, older men and women looking to stay supple and teens and adults with scoliosis.

Hayley is a company member of the Healing Arts Haven, (www.healingartshaven.org) a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing life energy-enhancing techniques to the performing arts as well as photography, painting, sculpture and poetry.

 

Renee Jimenez Orona earned a B.F.A. in Dance from UC Santa Barbara and started teaching Pilates and Gyrotonic in Los Angeles before her move here to New York City. Her first Pilates teacher and mentor, Anne Sotelo, helped her to rehabilitate a serious leg injury and start her journey. Since her first positive experience with Pilates, Renee has had the opportunity to learn from many brilliant teachers: Anne Sotelo, Jean Claude West, Marika Molnar, Emilie Conrad, Mary Abrams, Deane Juhan, Julio Horvath, Juergen Bamberger, and Kelly Kane. Renee is part of the Kane School Teacher Training staff where she teaches Pilates repetoire, basic anatomy and joint movement. She is grateful to her clientele for allowing her to work and gain an invaluable body of knowledge.

 

Melissa Wolfe Rosebro grew up in Baltimore Maryland and has been dancing all her life. She came to New York in 1997 to dance professionally, and after experiencing first hand the benefits of Pilates, knew she wanted to deepen her understanding and spread the knowledge. Concurrent with her ongoing local and international dance and choreography career, she apprenticed with Julie Sorrentino at Broadway Pilates for one year and then taught there for three years before receiving full certification from the Physical Mind Institute in 2001. After teaching over the next couple years for various Manhattan Pilates studios and studying with Irene Dowd, Ron Fletcher, Michelle Larson, and Deborah Lessen, Melissa completed Deborah Lessen’s advanced teacher program at the Greene Street Studio in 2004. Melissa has taught ages ranging from 10 to 98 and has focused training in scoliosis and joint replacement protocol as well as dance-related issues and injury. She continues to dance and choreograph modern, jazz and contemporary works and is a member of the Pilates Method Alliance. During workouts, Melissa keeps her clients moving while explaining Pilates principles and offering corrections about technique and reminders about breathing. The workouts are deep and intense, but her attitude is always lighthearted. The intention is always to make the tough work of changing your body shape and posture not only productive but fun.

 

Stephanie Stavinsky began her dance training in 1978 with Angel Raymond in Haddonfield, NJ. She continued with ballet, modern, and tap classes at Boston University and performed with Margot Parsons from 1993 to 1994. From 1994 to 1996, Stephanie taught ballet to adults in Cambridge, MA. Upon moving to New York, she continued her own dance training and performing experience, working with Diana Cartier at American Ballet Theatre, Tricia Kaye, and David Howard and dancing with the Bergen Dance Theatre. She has taught ballet at Dance Space, Sandra Cameron Dance Center, 550 Broadway, and at American Ballet Theatre. She currently teaches at Alvin Ailey and Dance New Amsterdam.

In 1998, Stephanie began Pilates-based training with Pamela Warshay and received her certification to teach in 1999. She instructed clients at Sage Fitness from 1999 until 2001 and then relocated to Toronto to complete a teacher training diploma program at the National Ballet School. While in Toronto, Stephanie taught ballet and Pilates matwork to children and adults.

From 1999-2000, Stephanie studied with neuromuscular facilitator and anatomist Irene Dowd in New York. She also worked with Ms. Dowd at teacher training seminars at the National Ballet School in Toronto from 1999-2002. Upon returning to New York, Stephanie continued workshops with Irene Dowd and nutritional consultant Rebecca Dietzel, covering topics such as menopause, stress, and tendon strength.

Stephanie returns to join the Sage Fitness staff in July 2003.
